Korean Families and Friends
Established in 2022, the Korean Families and Friends (KorFF) Affinity Group brings together members of the Lab community to share and celebrate all things Korean, whether they have Korean heritage or simply an interest in the Korean culture.
Throughout the year, we build community by hosting events, including the annual Meet & Greet to welcome new parents and kick off the school year, multiple mom get togethers for lunch and dinner, and our biggest celebration of all, Lunar New Year. We also contribute Korean food to the U-High International Day, and proudly host a Korean booth at Lab's Rites of May festival. KorFF warmly welcomes all Lab families and friends who wish to explore Korean culture, enjoy its food, and connect with others who share the same curiosity and enthusiasm.

Highlights of events from the 2024–2025 school year
Rites of May – May 31, 2025
KorFF participated in the 55th Rites of May by managing a Korean booth where the Lab community enjoyed making Korean crafts, learned to write their name in Korean, took photos in traditional Korean clothing (hanboks), and tasted classic Korean snacks like puffed rice treats and dalgona.
KorFF Mom’s Luncheon - May 23, 2025
A lovely luncheon to celebrate the end of the school year, and say goodbyes before the summer break.
Art Ceremony - May 22, 2025
Attended a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate KorFF’s very own Jihye Shin’s art piece underneath the 53rd Street viaduct.
New Family Welcome Event for Lab’s Admissions Office - February 28, 2025
Assisted Lab’s Admissions Office by welcoming new incoming families for the 2025-2026 school year.
U-High International Day – February 26, 2025
We contributed to U-High’s International Day by sharing a variety of beloved Korean foods, including tteokbokki, kimchi fried rice, kimbap, spicy chicken wings, and black bean noodles (jajangmyeon), offering the community a true taste of Korea.
KorFF Lunar New Year Celebration – January 31, 2025
We successfully hosted our annual Lunar New Year gathering, welcoming over 100 attendees to celebrate with food, games, and cultural traditions.
KorFF Mom’s Night Out - November 13, 2024
Enjoyed company and conversation over dinner at Proxi. Spent the night rekindling old friendships and building up new ones.
KorFF Coffee - October 9, 2024
Kicked off the school year with a coffee hour at Lab’s boardroom in the historic campus. We welcomed new parents, and laid out the plans for school year 2025-2026.
